Privacy Policy

Pictaria exists because photos belong on your hardware. This page explains what each part of Pictaria does — and does not do — with your data.

Last updated August 26, 2026

Pictaria is operated by AEDR Advisors LLC, doing business as Pictaria. Questions or privacy requests can be sent to support@pictaria.ai.

Pictaria Frame

Your photos never pass through Pictaria-operated infrastructure. They travel only among the app, your Immich instance, your Pictaria Server if you run one, and providers you choose through those systems.

Pictaria Frame has no Pictaria account system and does not send your photos, photo metadata, credentials, library information, or app activity to us.

Voice recognition

When you use voice commands, Pictaria Frame asks the speech-recognition service configured on your Android device to turn the recording into text. Depending on your device and provider settings, recognition may happen on the device or the service provider may process the audio on remote servers. That processing is governed by the provider's terms and privacy policy. Pictaria does not receive the voice recording.

The resulting transcript stays in the app unless the command needs your Pictaria Server to carry it out. For example, photo searches and free-form questions send the words needed for the request to your server. Your server may then send the request to an AI or other provider you configured. Neither the app nor Pictaria Server logs or stores the transcript.

Optional crash reporting

Crash reporting is the single optional exception.

If you opt in, diagnostic information about crashes and technical errors is sent to Sentry, our crash-reporting provider, where it is retained for 30 days.

Before reports are sent, Pictaria scrubs information such as URLs, IP-shaped strings, and library identifiers. Crash reports never intentionally include your photos, credentials, or information from your photo library.

Reports can include standard technical information about your device and app environment, along with a generated installation identifier. For that reason, we describe these reports as scrubbed, not anonymous.

Crash reporting is presented as a choice during setup and is off unless you enable it. You can turn it off at any time under Settings → Diagnostics.

Analytics

Pictaria Frame contains no behavioral analytics. We do not measure what you view, which photos you display, which features you use, or what you do inside the app.

Google may provide us with aggregate information about Play Store installs, purchases, crashes, and similar store-level activity as part of operating the Google Play platform.

Purchases

Purchases made through Google Play are processed by Google. We do not receive your full payment-card details.

Pictaria Server

Pictaria Server sends no telemetry, update pings, or photo-library data to Pictaria, and it depends on no Pictaria-operated backend.

The software communicates directly with systems needed for features you use, including:

  • your Immich server;
  • your Pictaria Frame devices;
  • AI and text-to-speech providers you select;
  • Open-Meteo for keyless weather geocoding and forecasts; and
  • Geoapify for place names, only if you configure it.

These connections go directly from your server to the relevant service. Pictaria Server makes no online license checks.

Supporter keys are verified locally against a public key included in the software.

AI, voice, and weather

If you enable AI enrichment, Pictaria Server sends photos or other data only to the AI provider you choose and configure.

Separately, when you invoke the voice Interesting command, your server sends the current photo's Immich preview plus its date, location, and filename to the voice-answer model you selected. This does not depend on the AI enrichment switch.

If you use a local provider such as LM Studio or Ollama, that data stays within infrastructure you operate.

If you configure an external AI provider, Pictaria Server sends the data required for the requested AI operation directly to that provider. The provider's handling of that data is governed by your relationship with that provider and its own terms and privacy practices, not by Pictaria.

If you select a text-to-speech provider, it receives the answer text it turns into audio. Weather sends the requested city or US ZIP to Open-Meteo for geocoding, then the resulting coordinates for the forecast. Optional Geoapify place naming sends photo or calculated home coordinates to your configured account.

Data stored by Pictaria Server

Data produced by Pictaria Server — such as captions, enrichment results, decisions, configuration, and other generated information — remains in Pictaria Server's data directory on your hardware unless you enable an Immich writeback or create/synchronize Immich tags and albums.

You control that data and can back it up, modify it, or delete it.

This website

Hosting

The website is hosted by Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel handles the requests your browser makes — including your IP address — in order to serve pages and keep the site available and secure. We do not use those server logs for analytics.

Website analytics

We use Mixpanel for limited website analytics so we can understand which pages and features are useful.

Mixpanel is configured with persistence disabled. Pictaria therefore does not use Mixpanel cookies, local storage, or persistent Mixpanel identifiers to recognize you across visits.

We collect basic events such as page views and clicks. We do not use this information to build advertising profiles or track you around the web.

When an analytics request reaches Mixpanel, your IP address may be used transiently to derive approximate geographic information such as city, region, and country. Mixpanel does not store that IP address with the resulting analytics event.

We also honor your browser's Do Not Track setting.

Email list, contact, and bug reports

If you join our email list, contact us, or submit a bug report, we receive the information you choose to provide, such as your email address and message.

We use that information only to:

  • respond to you;
  • provide support;
  • investigate bugs or technical issues; or
  • send Pictaria news or product updates if you asked to receive them.

Our forms are delivered by Resend, our email provider. Resend sends us the message you submitted, and — if you joined the email list — stores your address, which is where that list lives.

Support messages, including messages sent through forms or to support@pictaria.ai, may be stored in Linear, which we use as our issue-tracking and support-management service.

We do not sell your email address or other personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.

We may provide information to service providers such as Linear when they process it on our behalf in order to operate Pictaria.

You can unsubscribe from product emails at any time by replying to an email or contacting us.

Supporter contributions

Supporter contributions made through the Pictaria website are processed using Stripe Managed Payments, Stripe's merchant-of-record solution. Customers see Link as the merchant of record and the purchase as Sold through Link.

Stripe handles payment-card information and payment processing. We do not receive your full card number.

We may receive information associated with the transaction, such as your email address, what you purchased, payment status, and transaction identifiers, as needed to provide the product and maintain our records.

Service providers

Depending on which Pictaria features you use, personal information may be processed by service providers acting on our behalf or as part of providing their own service.

Our principal providers currently include:

  • Vercel — website hosting;
  • Sentry — optional crash and diagnostic reporting for Pictaria Frame;
  • Mixpanel — limited, non-persistent website analytics;
  • Resend — email delivery for our forms, and storage of our email list;
  • Linear — support and issue tracking;
  • Stripe and Link — website payment processing, merchant-of-record services, and transaction support; and
  • Google — distribution and payment services for Pictaria Frame through Google Play, and speech recognition when the device is configured to use a Google recognition service. Other Android devices may use a different speech-recognition provider.

We use these services only for the purposes described in this policy.

How long we keep information

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably needed for the purpose for which we received it, including providing support, operating Pictaria, maintaining appropriate business records, and complying with legal or accounting requirements.

In particular:

  • Crash reports: retained by Sentry for 30 days, then deleted automatically.
  • Support and bug reports: retained while useful for resolving issues, understanding recurring product problems, and maintaining support history.
  • Email-list information: retained until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove it.
  • Transaction information: retained as reasonably necessary for accounting, tax, fraud prevention, transaction support, and other legal or business-record requirements.

Pictaria Frame and Pictaria Server data that remains solely on your own hardware is controlled by you, not by us.

Your choices and privacy requests

You can:

  • leave Pictaria Frame crash reporting disabled;
  • disable crash reporting in the Frame app at any time under Settings → Diagnostics;
  • unsubscribe from Pictaria emails;
  • ask what personal information we have about you;
  • ask us to correct or delete personal information we control; or
  • ask us any other question about how Pictaria handles your information.

Send requests to support@pictaria.ai.

We may need enough information to verify that a request relates to you before acting on it.

Changes to this policy

If Pictaria's data practices change materially, we will update this policy and change the "Last updated" date above.
